Seventeen thousand lines lighter

Dead pages, orphaned endpoints, a whole subsystem nothing called - found by evidence, verified twice, then deleted. Less surface, fewer places for bugs to hide.

Fast-growing projects shed features the way trees shed leaves - except the leaves stay attached, invisibly, forever. The review found seventy-plus server endpoints with no caller anywhere, seven pages nothing linked to, and an entire dashboard subsystem - a router and a six-hundred-line service - that not one line of code invoked.

Deleting is the easy part; knowing is the work. Every candidate was re-verified against the live code the day of the deletion - a caller search across every page, component, route, service, worker and the offline cache - and only zero-hit items went. The sweep caught its own mistakes, too: one “dead” endpoint turned out to feed story-mode boss fights and was spared.

Around seventeen and a half thousand lines left the codebase that day. Every one of them was a place a bug could have lived.
