Your collection, from day one
A new player now starts with a squad that is already built, trinkets have one clear rarity ladder and an album to fill, and new generations of cards are on the way.
Everything in Glødkeeper starts with the collection, so it had better be good from the first minute. This autumn’s work on it was mostly about that first minute, and about giving the collection a second layer.
A squad on day one
A new player gets a starter collection of over fifty Glødkin. Until this month they then had to arrange them into a team before most games would let them play, and not everyone got that far.
Now the team is built for you the moment you join, using the same Auto-Build the team page offers. You can rebuild it, rearrange it or ignore it, but you can play straight away.
Tours you choose
The game has short guided tours for the toolbar, the team, the collection and more. They used to start by themselves. Now, on a page with a tour you haven’t done, a small pointing hand glides to the logo, and that’s all it does. Tap the logo and the tours are there, numbered, with the finished ones tucked into a folder. Ignore it and nothing happens.
Trinkets
Trinkets are curios your Glødkin carry: a lucky whistle, a gold star patch, an avocado pin. Each one boosts a couple of traits. This autumn they got one clear ladder: every trinket comes in six rarities, from plain Common up to Fabled, and rarer means stronger. A Glødkin can only carry a trinket as rare as itself, so your best trinkets go to your best cards.
There is an album too, one row per trinket and a column per rarity, showing silhouettes for the ones you haven’t found and where in the world each one turns up. Each of the six regions has its own shelf of them.
Cards with a past
New body types keep arriving. The Boffins are inventors and thinkers from before 1900, and the Timeline region is getting generations of Glødkin drawn from the decades of the twentieth century, from the fifties onwards. They are being drawn now.
What collecting is for
Because every game uses the same collection, no card is wasted. A Common with one brilliant trait might be exactly what one game needs. That is the idea we keep coming back to: build a collection that is broad and balanced, not one team that is strong at one thing.
