Registration is open for the closed alpha

Glødkeeper's closed alpha is taking registrations. What an alpha means here, how places are given out, why accounts will be reset, and what we'd love you to tell us.

Glødkeeper’s closed alpha is open for registration. If you would like to play, register on the play page.

Why “alpha”

Because it is honest. The game works: the collection, thirteen mini-games, the stories and the world are all built and being played. But there are known bugs, things that aren’t finished, and a couple of brand new games still being tuned. A beta is for polishing something nearly done. We aren’t there yet, and we would rather you knew that before you start.

How places work

You register by signing in with Google at the game and telling us, in a sentence or two, how you came across it, and whether anyone already playing knows you. We read every registration ourselves and approve places by hand. When yours is ready we email you, and your next sign-in takes you straight in.

We keep the alpha small so that every problem someone reports is one we can actually chase. When the places are full, registration still works, and you join a waiting list.

You don’t need an account on this website for any of it.

Accounts will be reset

When the alpha ends, every account starts again from scratch: collections, ratings and progress. An alpha is where we find out what is wrong, and sometimes the fix is to change how something works underneath. A clean start lets us fix things properly instead of working around old mistakes. We will tell everyone well before it happens.

What it costs

Nothing. Nothing is sold for money during the alpha, and random items never will be.

What we’d love from you

  • Tell us what breaks, and what you were doing when it did.
  • Tell us what’s dull. A game that works but isn’t fun is a bug too.
  • Tell us what you came back for. That is the hardest thing to see from the inside.

Catching up

The devlog went quiet for a couple of months while all this was being built. These posts catch up, one theme each:

And the roadmap has been rebuilt to show what is built, what is coming this winter, and what is genuinely a maybe.
